Welcome to Flint River Forge, home of the blacksmith work of Ken Purdy.

Flint River Forge is me, Ken Purdy of Montezuma, Georgia. I work with hammer and anvil over coal fire, using quality high carbon tool steel for blades and hawks.  I have many years experience, have provided blacksmith services at many demonstrations and period encampments, including Stone Mountain Park's Georgia Frontier Days, Fort Toulouse, AL,  Westville Living History Museum, in Lumpkin, GA, and am a member of the Ocmulgee Blacksmith's Guild.

As a re-enactor of 18th and 19th century time periods, I am constantly doing research into the construction methods, materials and techniques of iron and steel items from various time periods in American and European history.

I am a member of the Coalition of Historical Trekkers, active in many living history groups, so have a chance to see the work I do in action with many people.  This gives a blacksmith a unique opportunity to understand what works and what doesn't.
